Harrison Retiring?

This past week Steelers linebacker James Harrison was fined $75,000 for two hwlwmt to helmet hits against the Browns. After the fine he was asked about what he thought about the fine and he said he was thinking about retirement. Harrison said, "I play to hurt people." This is what the players signed up for. Hard hitting is part of the game and the NFL wants to change that by giving players fines and suspensions. If this is the way the NFL is going to deal with the situation then they are gonna have less players because they will stop playing if they cant play the way they want to. Big Hits are going to happen and if some player cannot handle it then maybe they shouldnt be on the field. This is football. It's a mens sport and violence is part of it.

  1. It would be a ture tragedy to see Harrison gone because like he says he plays to hurt. That's his job. He doesn't play to let people run around the feild untouched because the players are too scared to make a big hit. The league is making football not football anymore. All of these rules are making the game SOFT!

  2. I feel like yeah it is a sport that you know full and well what you are getting into. But at the same time the helmet to helmet hits protect both sides of the parties, the hitter, and hittie. I mean after LeGrand (Rutger football player) just got paraylzed from the kneck down after an awkward hit that happened from putting his helmet into some one I think its hard to say to just allow helmet to helmet contact. I mean the late Chris Henry when an autopsy was done said that he has severe brain damage from football, its a tough sport but its not a sport for the purpose to injure. If Harrison wants to hurt people why not join the MMA?

  3. I couldn't agree with you more. The NFL is all about big hits. Thats why we watch the game. If the league takes these hits out, there will be no more football, might as well call it soccer. But as to Harrison retiring, I think he just said that out of anger. There is no way he can walk away from the great Steeler defense.
